By using mantle film instead of round bale net, you can achieve a denser bale with a better shape, which leads to reduced CO2 levels inside the bale. This results in less mold growth and lower ammonia levels. With a denser bale, you can also reduce the number of layers of stretch film from 8 to 6 without compromising the quality of the silage.

PS Powerfilm from Polivouga is a high-quality mantle film that offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional round bale netting for silage. The wrap is available in two widths: 1.28 m for coverage up to the edge of the bale and 1.38 m for coverage that extends beyond the edge.

Replacing the net with mantle film results in a more compact and well-formed round bale. The tighter wrapping helps reduce oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the bale, which lowers the risk of mold growth and results in lower ammonia levels in the silage.

A more uniform and compact bale also makes it possible to reduce stretch film consumption. In many cases, 6 layers of stretch film are sufficient instead of 8, while maintaining the quality of the silage. This can result in both lower material costs and a more efficient silage-making process.
